OnePlus 7 & OnePlus 7 Pro 5G to Launch in May
OnePlus has been launching two phones every year. The T game started with the OnePlus 3 & 3T, followed by the OnePlus 5 & 5T, and the latest OnePlus 6 and the 6T. While companies embraced an ‘S’ as a suffix to introduce newer versions of their smartphones, OnePlus went a letter ahead and slapped a T to theirs. However, OnePlus may skip the T for 2019. Reportedly, the smartphone maker will introduce three variants of the upcoming OnePlus 7.
The line will consist of:
- Regular – OnePlus 7 – Model No. GM1901/03/05
- Performance spec – OnePlus 7 Pro – Model No. GM1911/13/15/17
- And the highlight of the line up will be the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. No points for guessing, the 7 Pro 5G will bring 5G network capability. The model no. for this variant will be GM1920. Supporting the news, a couple of photos have surfaced on the internet showing what might be the upcoming Pro version of the smartphone.
The photos suggest that the 7 Pro gets no notch on the display. It comes with a 6.67-inch full display with curved edges, just like the ones seen on some Samsung smartphones. The volume rocker is on the left side of the frame, while the power button and alert slider will be on the right.
One of the photos shows the ‘About Phone’ tab, under which are listed the specifications. Starting off, the 7 Pro comes with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 Chipset. The storage option of the phone in question is 256 GB and the also features 8 GB RAM. This might be one of the many RAM & ROM combinations offered. The Display is a 6.67 inch Super Optic AMOLED display.
It will get a triple camera setup consisting of three cameras – 48 MP + 16 MP + 8 MP. There is no visible notch on the display, therefore, we can assume that OnePlus may be working on a pop-up unit or a mechanism that enables users to use the primary triple camera set up as a front facing camera as well.
The smartphones are most likely to launch in the month of May.
BTW, I have just got the model numbers of the OnePlus 7 Variants confirmed so here they are:
GM1901,03,05 -> OnePlus 7
GM1911,13,15,17 -> OnePlus 7 Pro
GM1920 -> OnePlus 7 Pro 5G
