#DubaiEats | Playing It Safe, We Ordered Mediterranean & Chicken Souvlakis!
I love pancakes. I love the fluffy, air-like discs drenched in sticky syrup or whipped cream, and the warm fuzzy feeling- like glitter exploding in my tummy- after. So I had really high hopes from Pancake house.
I live in Burjuman and have passed this little outlet quite a lot of times making a mental note of visiting it as soon as I could. My husband is lot less of a sweet tooth so he’s never really shared my eagerness. I went with a friend instead and we were seated inside by 8. Needless to say, we excitedly pored over the menu trying to select the most exotic sounding pancake we could find.
We ordered the mango-shrimp salad, a vegetarian Best Taco in Town and Orange sunrise pancake which included a cream cheese filling and an orange-y syrup. We were served in less than 15 minutes.
The vegetarian Best Taco in Town was a taco shell filled with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and the house sauce. The shrimp and mango salad was a huge three-shrimp- disappointment, and then we tried the pancakes.

The pancakes were egg-y and the cream cheese filling wasn’t sweetened. The dollop of cream was over-whipped and the syrup was stringy. My pancake dream- crashed.
Hungry and pissed off, we decided to salvage the day by turning to GRK- a Greek food joint at Burjuman centre. Playing it safe, we ordered Mediterranean and Chicken souvlakis. Not very different from shawarma, this was grilled veggies and grilled chicken wrapped in pita bread. We also ordered a side of fries and orange juice to finish the meal. I’ll tell you, it was a great meal. Filling, delicious, and non-greasy, it was delightful!
We didn’t have any space left for dessert but I am going to GRK again just to try the Baklava-Salted Caramel-Cheesecake.
Until next time,
